Shikara, one of the awaited movies of Vishu Vinod Chopra, hit screens on February 7 with two newcomers Aadil Khan and Sadia. The complete name of the movie Shikara: The Untold Story of Kashmiri Pandits reflects the plot of the film. The film projects the incidents of criticism and discrimination done with the Pandits of Kashmir when they were bound to leave their native place. Around 4 lac Kashmiri Pandits were asked to leave their nation and go back to India. The story projects the moments which the people of Kashmir bore at that time.
Apart from that, the movie also depicts the love story of a Kashmiri Pandit couple – Aadil Khan and Saida. Shikara had an opening box office collection of Rs. 1.2 crore on Friday, while on the second day, the movie is expected to double its collection graph. The film is moving parallel to Mohit Suri’s latest release, ‘Malang’ starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Disha Patani, and hence the box office collection is affected.
Renowned movie critic Taran Adarsh reviewed the movie as beautiful and posted a collection figure of Rs. 1.2 crore on the very first day while he has also mentioned that the collection was majorly from the second half of the first day. And cited an estimate of good collection figures on the weekend for the movie.
#Shikara surprises on Day 1… Released at multiplexes mainly, the biz gathered momentum post noon shows [a norm nowadays]… Needs to double its Day 1 number on Day 2 and maintain the trend on Day 3 for a respectable weekend total… Fri ₹ 1.20 cr. #India biz.
