Is it actually a super-Earth found by NASA

The first illustration of NASA’s satellite over this newly discovered super-Earth seems to be dicy. Scientists from NASA revealed that they have discovered an exoplanet named GJ 357 d Which seems to be the next Earth. As of now, this GJ 357 D is known as the super-Earth just because of some bullet points which points life on this super-Earth.

Details reveal that this planet belongs to a region around 31 light-years away from our Earth and posses a size at least 6 times bigger than our host planet. The planet is in trend as the first nearby “Super-Earth” which could support life.

Scientists have discovered a planet, named GJ 357 d, that is about six times larger than Earth, orbits a dwarf star every 55.7 days, and could potentially provide Earth-like conditions. Researchers don’t know whether the newfound exoplanet, which is 31 light-years away, is rocky like our own planet ?However, they do know that it could potentially support liquid water on its surface because it exists in the star’s habitable zone. “This is exciting, as this is humanity’s first nearby super-Earth that could harbor life,” said Lisa Kaltenegger, a professor at Cornell who authored a study on the planet and two other nearby exoplanets. The discovery was made when a spacecraft captured the presence of GJ 357 d, the spacecraft was made to look for planets outside of our solar panel. The spacecraft is meant to find planets beyond our own orbit which are hidden with brights or meteors in between.

The researchers discovered that this newly discovered planet is 31 light-years away from Earth. While Lisa Kaltenegger (Senior Professor at Cornell) revealed that “If the planet has a dense atmosphere, which will take further studies to determine, it could trap enough heat to warm the planet and allow liquid water on its surface.”

NASA also captioned the news that the planet holds a mass of at least 6.1 times than the Earth’s mass and it orbits its stars every 55.7 days. With Kaltenegger who is also a member of TESS science team, this is their first discovery of a nearby super-Earth that could harbour life.

She also added that “With a thick atmosphere, the planet GJ 357 d could be able to maintain liquid water on its surface just like Earth which will be new hope for the presence of life.”
