New satellite, jupiter

In a shocking discovery, scientists have found a new first interstellar visitor. The asteroid which they have found is said to be from another star system which is residing in our cosmic club. The asteroid named as Oumuamua and it just zoomed past rapidly in and out if our solar system.

Scientists have reported this on Monday when they find the interstellar resident is an asteroid sharing Jupiter’s orbit which is circling in the opposite direction of the planet. This asteroid is known as 2015 BZ509, and this is the backward orbit which is orbiting around the sun. Researchers said that this asteroid had joined our solar system for the first time when our solar system formed 4.5 billion years ago.

jupiter life exists

The report which was published in “Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society: Letters “ on Monday. The author of the study Fathi Namouni and Helena Morais had explained that how BZ509 was discovered for the first time in the year 2014 when scientists observed the strange orbit of the asteroid. The French and Brazilian researchers have found the path by using extensive simulations which shows BZ has orbited around the sun in reverse and thus goes back to the beginning of our solar system. Even if it moves opposite to the Jupiter, it doesn’t collide with the planet till now as its orbit around it in an elliptical orbit.

According to the Loeb, he said, “It is much easier to design a mission that will probe a captured asteroid within our solar system than to send a spacecraft to another star in a journey which would take at least a hundred thousand years with existing rocket technology. In particular, we can send a spacecraft that will examine BZ509 for signs of life. Such rocks could potentially transfer life between planetary systems in a process called ‘panspermia. It is possible that life on Earth originated elsewhere and was delivered by an alien asteroid that crashed on Earth.”
