‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ has completed its first week on a quite decent note and currently running in its second week. The film was released on 1st February 2019 and received positive reviews from the film critics along with impressive ratings. Shelly Chopra Dhar’s directorial coming-of-age drama movie impressed the critics but it seems like it fails to attract more and more viewers into the theatres. The film features Sweety’s attempts to come out to her traditional Punjabi family. It is the first Bollywood biggie or first mainstream Bollywood movie that tells a story of a lesbian. More interestingly, the film is the very first collaboration between father-daughter duo Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has collected Rs 35 lakh on its eighth day (second Friday) that leads the total box office collection of the movie to Rs 16.85 crore, BoxofficeIndia.com reported. Despite receiving good reviews along with impressive ratings, many people reject the movie due to its subject.
Plot: Sweety is a young Punjabi girl who has to contend with her over-enthusiastic traditional family that wants to get her married to a young writer who is smitten by her. However, Sweety harbours a secret close to her heart; she is a lesbian in love with another woman, and ultimately fears the truth that her true love might not find acceptance in her family and society.
The film is written by Shelly Chopra Dhar and Gazal Dhaliwal. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the production banner of Vinod Chopra Films. The name of the movie is driven from Anil Kapoor’s famous romantic song from 1994 movie ‘1942: A Love Story’.
