If you are spending too many hours on Facebook and Instagram, then it may lead you to the depression stage. This was proved in a new study that was done to analyze the impacts of social media on your health. The new study which was published in the Journal of Applied Bio-behavioral Research said that social media is one of the factors which were linked with the major depressive disorder (MDD). In this study, the research was done on 504 millennials who all are using Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. All of these people are said to be met with the criteria for MDD, and they score high on social media addiction scale.

It is also seen these things indicated that they would be more bothered and they are tagged in some unflattering pictures as well as they are less likely to post their pictures in the social media along with other people. The reports of this study which was reported in the Journal shows that over 300 Twitter accounts holder were said to be having MDD. The participants in these negative social media behaviours are said to be associated with a high likelihood of MDD.

As per Krista Howard who is from Texas State University said in a statement that, the study about this highlights the social media and its behaviours. It is associated with depression, and it is very important that this thing should get recognized with the use of social media. Social media can offer many positive benefits which include social support. The main thing for all individual is to develop the awareness about how currently the use of social media is done and how it can bring the change in behaviour among people who all are associated with psychological distress.
