New research which was done on the dark matter by the researchers to understand about it. The scientists who have researched it have effectively determined the size of the dark matter particles and also about how strong will be the interactions that are done with the regular matter which are much smaller than what we thought.
The researchers who have researched the dark matter have used the XENON1T dark matter detector. This detector has helped to produce the experimental results, and it has established the limit so that it can know the effective size of the dark matter particles. This detector is said to be the most sensitive instrument among its kind, and it can also be able to limit the size of the parameter which is about 4.1X10-47 square centimeters.
In this, it contains two background events which are known as radon contamination and the neutrons which are produced in the detector environment or the gamma rays contamination in which it is predicted to occur in the detector, but they are not.
According to the Ethan Brown, the member of the XENON Collaboration and also the physicist at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York had said that this occurs as they cannot differentiate between the dark matter signals and the background signals. He claimed that if we could see the dark matter signal, then it will help in measuring the size but if we cannot see it, and then we can say that it is smaller than this amount. There are two signals, then they would help in the background events, and if no other events detected in the background or dark matter particles, then it is said that they are much smaller than what we have thought.
The results of this experiment were presented on Monday at the Seminar which was held at the GanSasso Underground Laboratory in Italy.
